Hey Guys!
So I went impulse buying (whoops) in a book store (double whoops)! To be fair – after grabbing about 11 books, I realised I’m not rich and put 5 back – so it wasn’t as bad for my bank as it could have been. Silver linings!
I wanted to have a variety of books from all different genres – or at least not have a bundle of books from the same section or series.
I have been reading Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series, of which I’m ready to start book 3. But as I was carrying it around in my bag, placing it on my nightstand, keeping it within arms reach when I knew I might have time to make some progress, I found that I didn’t want to read it. Now I love the series. It’s indepth and can seemingly go on forever. I’m genuinely invested in the characters and the universe. There’s so much going on that it’s comparable to Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings. But I found after reading the first two books, I was ready to read something else. I needed a break. I needed something that was just, different. And so I wandered on in to a bookstore after a long day of work and so begun my compulsive buying…
The books that did make it on to my reading list are;
- Anna Kendrick “Scrappy Little Nobody“
- Kate Hamer “The Doll Funeral“
- Margot Lee Shetterly “Hidden Figures“
- Jackie French “Miss Lily’s Lovely Ladies“
- Carrie Fisher “The Princess Diarist“
- Jane Austen “Pride and Prejudice“
When choosing these books I knew I wanted things from all over the place. I didn’t want to sit in one section of the store and pick out what was recommended or the most popular. Instead I picked a book and moved on – and if something caught my eye, pick it up and see if I’d be interested.
Now I have the hardest choice of where do I begin…. At the moment, I’m leaning toward Kate Hamer’s ‘The Doll Funeral‘. Because it sounds creepy and I’m intrigued.
What are you reading at the moment?
